Kappa Sigma is focused upon the Four Pillars of Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. As a valued-based men’s fraternity, Kappa Sigma strictly forbids hazing and fosters meaningful college experiences by offering progressive membership development and pledge education.
Ready to elevate your college journey? Kappa Sigma offers more than just a fraternity—it's a chance for lasting friendships, personal development, and unforgettable experiences. Over 280,000 men have embraced the opportunities, leadership, and lifelong connections that Kappa Sigma brings. Our purpose is clear: we’re here to shape better men.
Take charge and make an impact. In Kappa Sigma, our brothers develop the leadership skills necessary to engage with and uplift their communities. From senators to CEOs, countless members attribute their success to the values and experiences gained through Kappa Sigma, empowering them to lead with confidence and purpose.
Your college experience is about more than just earning a degree—it’s about growth and achievement. Since its founding in Renaissance Italy, Kappa Sigma has prioritized academic excellence among its members. Through the Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund, over $4.5 million in scholarships have been awarded to brothers who demonstrate outstanding academic performance, campus involvement, and leadership. At the chapter level, brothers support each other by offering guidance on academics, professors, and coursework, ensuring you have the resources to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Service is at the heart of Kappa Sigma. Our brothers dedicate thousands of hours each year to community initiatives and raise substantial funds for meaningful causes. Whether it’s organizing park clean-ups, mentoring local youth, or hosting charity events, Kappa Sigmas are committed to making a tangible impact. While college offers many enjoyable experiences, it’s through service that you truly feel the fulfillment of making a difference in the lives of others.
The Fraternity is committed to fostering a close cooperative partnership with all colleges and universities where its chapters exist. The Fraternity should promote academic achievement and assist each member to achieve his academic potential. By helping members adjust to the college environment, we can help them pursue their degree goals. Co-curricular activities can be as valuable as the classroom experience; hence, the Fraternity should promote involvement in all aspects of campus life.
The creation of lifelong friendships is a primary benefit of Fraternity membership. The Fraternity fulfills the need of students to belong to an extended family and frequently provides the opportunity to enhance those personal relationships through group living situations. As Brothers, our members have an obligation to have a caring concern for the welfare of our members. Brotherhood is a lifetime commitment; therefore, we should encourage strong alumni-undergraduate relationships for the mutual benefit of the students and the alumni.
We teach young men social skills that will benefit them throughout their lifetime. The multitude of leadership opportunities available through the Fraternity prepares members for success in their chosen careers. Chapters should organize well-rounded programs and strive for excellence and quality in all undertakings.
The lessons taught from Fraternity ritual should be incorporated into the daily lives of the members. Kappa Sigmas are expected to act as gentlemen at all times, and the Fraternity must demand the highest standards of personal conduct. The Fraternity should instill a sense of responsibility and integrity. The dignity of all persons shall always be respected.
Members, individually and collectively, should work toward the betterment of their campus and community… and in so doing contribute to the betterment of themselves.

The two-story, 5,053-square foot home provides supportive housing and a lifestyles program to help veterans get back on their feet. Ten bedrooms are dedicated to military veterans with coordinated case management through the Veteran's Administration. One room is occupied by a live-in resident assistant, and the other five bedrooms are available for other homeless men, regardless of veteran status.
The Buddy Smith Home was named in honor of the late Ralph T. “Buddy” Smith who served in the Pacific through the Army Air Corps. Buddy Smith also believed strongly in helping the less fortunate, including homeless individuals, according to his son, Tim R. Smith, a board member of The Next Step Homeless Services.
